Totem ECDIS 2 days Training Course outline:
The courses are held in English language.
In addition to the class offered at our facility in Israel, training can be accommodated onboard customer vessels and/or any other chosen location.
Totem Plus are proud to have partnered with leading ECDIS training and solutions provider,
ECDIS Ltd www.ecdis.org, to offer our customers the highest standard of flag-state approved ECDIS training. The ECDIS courses can be delivered in ECDIS Ltd training centers (which includes MCA flag-state approval), or at any location of your choosing, using their special mobile facility.
The types of training available are:
Generic (IMO 1.27) Course
The IMO 1.27 model is a 40 hour course, held over five days. From 1st January 2012, the latest STCW amendments (June 2010) require any bridge watch-keeper, operating an ECDIS system, to have completed this course. It covers the principles and legal aspects of electronic charting and ECDIS performance standards, as well as the basic operation and implementation of an ECDIS system, including route planning, chart loading/updating and route monitoring. The ECDIS Ltd course is approved by the DNV, as well as a large number of different flag-states. Due to continually changing standards, latest guidance on fag-state approval is available on request.
Type-Specific Course
If a bridge watch-keeper has completed an IMO 1.27 course on any system other than Totem Plus, they will need to complete a type-specific course under ISM Code Section 6. The type-specific course teaches the student about the basic operation and implementation of Totem Plus, including the methods of route planning and execution. If a bridge watch-keeper has completed the IMO 1.27 course on Totem Plus, they should not require type-specific training.
